Southeastern Laboratories, Inc.
Serving the Water Treatment Industry Since 1973
ProMoss™ is the first all natural and sustainable plant-based water treatment solution for today's water issues. ProMoss™ uses the natural properties of Sphagnum moss to improve water quality and affect every surface touched by the treated water. ProMoss™ offers a powerful, simple, and natural water treatment program that requires no complicated chemical feed and control systems. ProMoss™ naturally removes and inhibits the formation of organic contamination effectively reducing corrosion, scaling and the insulating properties of organic contamination wherever the treated water touches a surface.
Applying a ProMoss™ program is simple requiring minimal change or up front expense to treat an existing cooling tower system. Simply place the correct amount of ProMoss™ in a submersible contact chamber in the tower basin or in a specially designed bypass feeder. Usually within a month, the water will be clear, foaming eliminated, scale will either fall off or be easily washed off, and corrosivity will decrease in the tower and the associated equipment.
The use of ProMoss™ along with an approved biocide is shown to be very effective in maintaining cooling towers free from Legionella infestation. The combination of ProMoss™ with hydrogen peroxide generation keeps your site totally chemical free and provides a system that meets industry accepted Legionella prevention guidelines.
A major tobacco manufacturing plant in the Southeast US replaces its chemical treatment program with ProMoss™ resulting in cleaner systems and improved performance. Several issues were addressed that were un-solvable with chemical treatment.
CSC provided a sustainable non-hazardous ProMoss™ Water Treatment System to stabilize pH, control corrosion, eliminate calcite scale in the hot and chilled water loops. This system eliminates hazardous chemical previously used for the water treatment system at the Currier Museum of Art.
Case study presenting data from a large data center with two identical cooling tower systems; one using ProMossTM and the other on conventional chemical treatment. Performance criteria used and water savings obtained.
Steve Chewning, Vice President of FIeld Operations at SEL, presented a paper containing case study data on their ProMoss™ applications at the Association of Water Technologies (AWT) Convention in Orlando, Florida.
Creative Water Solutions LLC conducted trials with ProMoss™ at three different plant locations on cooling towers ranging from 250 ton to 650 tons. Extensive data is presented on inhibition of corrosion, scale and fouling.
In this summary, we will review the lifecycle of Legionella bacteria, review the effects of ProMoss™ on organic contamination, and discuss the results of Legionella testing on cooling towers treated with ProMoss™ in the state of New York.
